cherrypicking/matchmaking

I decided to do a little exeriment for the past couple of days by creating an alt account to play as to see how the experience would chancge if I didn't have a black belt. To my surprise I discovered more than one thing.
I expected to find that many of the other black belts that duck me normally would fight me since they only saw a white or yellow belt(it got to orange by the end of the experiment) and I was right about that. The thing that really caught me off guard was how unbalanced the matchmaking is. Instead of matching people up based off of their record it soley matches them up based on their belt color first and foremost. The biggest problem with this is that instead of getting matched up with players at or around the same level or even percieved level according to the game, you can easily get matched up against someone with a record of say 65-2 who happens to be only an orange belt, because he fights in numerous weight classes and finishes fights too early to acquire the necessary points to rank up faster.
While this doesn't really concern me specifically as I'm fine with fighting them, it is quite unfair and completely misleading for those who are new to the game who are likely trying to just learn the ropes and are expecting to be matched with someone along their skill level, especially when they see that they are matched up with someone of the same belt color as them. I hope that for the next game the whole belt ranking process is adjusted, because for me it has two noticeable flaws in its present for;
1. It is still awarding the loser points, which means that eventually the loser can achieve the next belt even though it really doesn't mean that they have displayed any level of sucess online.
2. It awards more points for long drawn out/close fights than it does for making quick work of an opponent. If you are able to dominate your opponent you should be rewarded for that, not be made to feel like you should prolong the fight just to grind out some more points to help you reach the next belt.
I for one would much rather see the game reward the most skilled, not just reward people for playing as much as possible. If the dev's decide to take this route then it just might give some meaning to the ranking system aside from just the top 100 and the achievement/trophy hunters, also it would be nice to know that when you were fighting a black belt or higher that it meant that they were really good, not that it could also mean that they might have just had a ton of fights and progressed that way.|||Completely agree.|||

Totally agree man, I was getting beat by guys so much better than me early simply because it wouldn't match me up with anyone of my own pathetic skill level. I was fighting black belts, or getting matched up with them even when I only had 9 fights and was a white belt (I don't know how). I actually took to ducking opponents for a time, I probably did that for 2 nights, simply because I was learning nothing, and just giving the other guy an easy, quick win. I've pretty much fought whoever I'm matched up the past 2 weeks, although haven't got to play any this week at all. I still find I get matched up against far superior players too often. Good points by you.
